  1.       IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 1 SERIAL PORT

  5. The serial port which you intend to operate must
  6. be configured properly for use with the Microsoft
  7. serial port driver built into Windows.
  8.  
  9. For most computers, each comm port must be 
  10. physically set to a UNIQUE interrupt (IRQ).  
  11.  
  12.  
  13. Normally your ports are set to conflict:
  14.  
  15.     COM 1 and COM 3 share IRQ 4 
  16.     COM 2 and COM 4 share IRQ 3
  17.  
  18. If you try to access a port that shares
  19. an Interrupt using UNICOM or Terminal, you may 
  20. LOCK the Microsoft Port driver or at best, get a 
  21. message stating that the port you want is not
  22. available.
